European Championships 2009

Sweden was our first European Championships as a team. We all flew out together except for Megan who travelled in the lorry with Julie, Allan and the team horse Go Fast. We all had lots of fun on the plane, getting more and more excited with every second!

We arrived in Sweden on Wednesday, and sat relaxing with Wee County for most of the afternoon. It was sooo hot! Early evening we travelled back to the hotel (in Emma’s amazing Audi) and ate a lovely tea. After looking round for a bit we found a swimming pool and sauna. The pool was FREEZING so we went to the sauna and chilled out in there.

Next morning we watched the individual compulsories. But, we couldn’t wait to watch the freestyles because they are less boring! Megan and I enjoyed giving the team a massage and hair styling!!!

Friday morning was individual freestyles. The whole audience and judges were blown away as usual by Joey’s freestyles. And none of us were surprised when she won, becoming Senior Female European Champion 2009!

Our team compulsories went well, but there were some mistakes and a fair bit we needed to improve on. However, Go Fast went really well and went even better the next day for freestyle. On Saturday team freestyle went fab, and the crowd cheered very loudly.

Sunday morning we woke up bright and early and SO excited. After a quick warm up round we ran in for our last performance. It was almost foot perfect. Overall, we ended up coming 8th, which was pretty good for our first Europeans!

We came home with a lot of experience, looking forward to 2010.
