We had a poor response to our competition at Fen End on September the 11th, many groups let us down but we had an added bonus when John Eccles phoned and brought down Baroque with Joey, Hannah and Ross. They arrived on Friday night and settled in at Fen End in order to start not quite so early Saturday morning.
EVS ran the new team to gain qualification for CVI** 2005, they have been training for two weeks so although their freestyle was weak they managed to get the score they need. Tiny carried them very well but I think she would prefer Individuals!
Ross continues to improve and performed well to gain a good mark for the Male Individual title; the girls as usual was well contested with Liz coming in first, Joey second, Lucy third (lovely freestyle) and Sarah fourth. All the girls continue to improve and the young ones are working very hard.
The junior class was won by Hannah Eccles. The pairs was also won by Hannah and sister Joey, with Sarah Reid and Lucy Phillips second: with more practice they will be good.
I think everyone had a good time, the new horses went extremely well, and Herbie gained his mark of 6 with Liz Watson and behaved beautifully. Grey Mare was very tolerant with the walk classes and Sarah Watson did a sterling job in the individual with her.
The day finished with a barbeque in the gym with the Eccles before they trekked back off up the road, we were really grateful that they had made such efforts to come along.
Thanks to all of our sponsors for the event: Nicki, Team Balanced, The Bell Family, and The Watson Family.
Thanks to Alison and Stuart, Bob and family, the Watsons, Liz Reid, Ben, David and our judges Catflap and Hannah. A big thank you as always to Richard, who worked tirelessly with the horses as usual. All the vaulters and parents for their hard work and support.
Hopefully as the British Championships will be in England next year we will be able to run the English Championships at the same time and then should have more competition.
