Second Selection Trial, Moreton Morrell. 18th and 19th June 2005

The final selection trials were held at the Warwickshire College at Moreton Morrell with Carina Inglesson ( Sweden ), Katalin Heczey ( Hungary ) and Catherine Else ( GBR ) judgeing. The weather was glorious although a little warm for the poor horses. The EVS were ahead after the compulsory round but the SEVT put in a faultless performance in the freestyle leaving them ahead at the end of day one. Sarah Watson vaulted beautifully and was ahead of Joey and Liz, Philip and Ross both had better scores than the first selection trials by Sunday morning.

Sunday was yet again very hot, as was the competition, the technical tests were much better with Liz now in the lead. The second round freestyles all went well and with a close run thing for the top three Liz finished on a very creditable 7.7, Joey and Sarah on 7.6. The other three girls up for selection all finished over 7 - a great acheivement for British Vaulting, they were Ann Rogerson, Sarah Reid and Lucy Phillips. Ross won the boys class with Philip second.

Both teams put in a lovely freestyle performance and the finishing scores were EVS 7.581, SEVT 7.586. I guess thats what you call a close run competition. Henry and Bowler as always were perfect!

This leaves SEVT Team selected for Italy and Ross Foreman, Liz Watson, Joey Eccles and Sarah Watson all selected as Individuals, with Phillip off to Bern to get a qualifying score and Lucy Phillips travelling reserve. Well done everybody, it's good for British Vaulting to have such a wealth of Vaulters to be able to select from.

Grateful thanks to all the people who helped to make the event possible, Judges, writers, scorers, first aid, parents, supporters, vaulters but especially the horses.
