We arrived at the Royal Show, Stoneleigh early on Sunday morning in a lorry kindly lent to us by Andy. Having located the ring we would be performing in we got ready for the first display at 10am. It was very warm already and the thought of putting lycra on wasn’t very pleasant. The first display went well and was received well by the crowd.
Having washed Bowler off and let him rest for an hour or so it was time for the next display. As it was lunch time this one was even hotter. Water and a wet towel went into the arena to keep us going. It was good practice for Aachen though. This was the best display of the day, everything went well, including the parts with the two little ones. It was Madie’s first event with us, having vaulted just 4 times.
On the way back to the lorry the Kings Troop let off their guns. Bowler wasn’t too sure about this and could have run down some unsuspecting spectators if we had been by the ring.
This time at the lorry it wasn’t just B who had a wash, a water fight started and resulted in everyone including Julie getting very wet! Two catsuits also fell victim to the water, luckily it was so hot they dried off before the last display at 4.20pm.
Just before the last display Julie was interviewed for Country channel TV. They also filmed the display. They were filming at the show all week. The last display went well, although we were a little nervous as we saw the Kings Troop passing to go and do their display at about the same time as we would be in the ring. They didn’t let off the guns until we had just left the ring, good timing!
Thanks to Andy for lending us the lorry.
