It was not quite as cold as we had expected for our first competition of the year, but cold enough !
The Judges Susanne and Catherine both turned up, babies in tow and sat down to judge a good turnout. Four Teams, 29 Individuals and 4 pairs. The Individuals started the day at 10 o'clock and Go Fast was the first in the ring. She was as good as gold, under the expert tuition of Sarah Watson and Lucy Bell and although very interested in everything got on with the job in hand. Both girls helped her get the qualifing mark for Saumur. I was very pleased with her.
David Owen followed me with Tiny and Jon, Suzi and Pippa. They all did really well, David looked really professional and all three performed well. Tiny went back in with Lucy P, Sarah R, Sara, Sarah F and Alex. All did well and finally I went back in with B and Liz, Emzie and Steph.
The Team followed soon after and we were just about warm ! Lunchtime brought the fun classes with Sarah Watson judging, Go Fast took vaulters from Wittering, Highfield and EVS. Overton had several vaulters on Jack.
The freestyles in the afternoon all went smoothly, a few slips but nothing drastic until Alex tried a move in the practice area and dislocated her knee. It looked really good from where I was stood but Alex assured me it was really painful. Lucy helped her off Tiny and our First Aider - Emma - came and supported her until the ambulance arrived, they were really good and were with us within ten minutes and Alex got carted off to Warwick, she's on the mend now, they "popped it back in place" . Get better soon Alex.
The Individuals all did well, especially Liz, Joanne, Lucy and Sarah - 1st to fourth respectively and Jon, Ross and Aled for the boys.
Everyone else carried on, all the Teams finished their freestyles safely.
Juliet has found her vocation as music master and MC, thank you Juliet. Thanks also to Dick, Pam, Wendy, Sandy, Liz, Debbie and Emma for all of your hard work.
Thanks to the Scots, Welsh, Overton, Highfield and Wittering, all for turning out, hope everyone got home safe. Look forward to seeing you all later in the year.
