My daughter Emma “had a go” at vaulting at pony club camp in 1991, Katherin Townsend did the demo and Wendy Bell contacted her and persuaded her to come to Moreton Morrell to show us more. That was December 1991 and that was when I started to get interested in Vaulting, we were using the old small school at Moreton Morrell then - how things change!
The highlight of my vaulting career always will be my son John winning the
British Championship in 2001.
I have had the honour of training many
talented youngsters over the years and many Champions. I have trained the
Pre - Novice Team Champions in 1998, Novice Team Champions in 1996 and
Intermediate Team Champions in 2000. Pairs Champions with Liz and Sarah
Watson, Individual Female Champions with Hannah MacGillivray in 2001 also
Liz Watson in 2002, 2003 and 2005 , Male Champions in 1997, 1998 with Daniel
Bentley, John McNally in 2001 and Jon Blake in 2004 and Junior Champion with Steph Hunter in 2006.
My longest standing vaulter is Lucy Bell who started with me in 1991 and was in the Novice Champion Team of 1996 on her own horse Copper lunged by Wendy Bell.
I live at Temple Herdewyke with my partner Alan and Abbie & Poppie my two Jack Russells. My son John comes home from University to stay. My hobbies include a love of music and a passion for dancing. I am hooked on movies, fortunately Alan shares my interests and is also helping with lungeing !! We also hack out on a regular basis, Geoffrey looks after Alan!
