English Championships, Moreton Morrell.

It rained, it rained some more and then some more ! The indoor arena was flooded !! Julie turned up Saturday morning in wellies and should have stayed in them all day! The lungers got together and decided they could manage in the covered outdoor arena, not at all ideal for the spectators but the vaulters and the horses were brilliant. We had SEVT and Border vaulters come down from Scotland with a nine and half hour journey ! The vaulters and horses however looked none the worse and performed beautifully. The caterers failed to turn up , presumably flooded out so everyone struggled without a bacon batch and coffee but everyone seemed to go home with a smile on their face, especially the two new groups from Warwick consisting of able bodied and disabled vaulters who wowed the audience with their pre-novice teams. Everyone made them very welcome and clapped the loudest for them! Cass and Herbie were perfect gentlemen.
Our new advanced team coped really well in difficult circumstances. Having lost our working vaulters, Lucy Bell ( best prop ever ) and the twins Sarah and Liz, the young vaulters really held it together to produce a promising team for the future. They are now looking forward to Krumke. Geoffrey was a saint and is really turning out to prefer team work. The individuals from EVS all had a good competition with Lucy Bell performing a super set of compulsories on Cass and Sarah Reid steadily improving. Emma Runge, Fiona Jones and Steph Hunter also looking good. In the Junior class Sara was brilliant, becoming English Champion with Paige, Lydia and Honor competing well.
Herbie worked his socks off all day, with 2000 pairs from Overton and carrying Emma Sherman to Novice Champion with Maddy Young 3rd on Banner. Geoffrey also carried Millie and India to 3rd place in the walk pairs, beautifully done !
Grateful thanks to all who came and supported us by competing, working and for their patience. Lets hope we can provide some sunshine in September !!!
