Camp - August 2004
Summer Camp at Town Crier Cottage by kind permission of Nicki Kokubo was held on August the 16th to the 19th.
We had Vaulters from Wittering, Windrush, Arrow, Gemini, Venus, Warwick, Trent Park and Japan.
The youngest was 7 years old and the oldest 23. The format was geared around the grass root vaulters and training the new coaches.
We also had instruction in Break Dancing from Will, Kung Fu from John and Dance from Kate.
The horses we used were Hughie from Trent Park and Bowler, Tiny, Grey Mare and Herbie from EVS. The four days just flew by and we ran out of time so quickly, the new Coaches were very impressive and easily are up to level one standard.
We also put most of the newer Vaulters through their Blue Vaulting badge and Liz Watson, Lucy Bell, Sarah Watson and Emma Runge from EVS through their Gold badges. Tthese were a big success and the Vaulters had a good time going through them.
Everyone improved over the week, I wish the days had been longer and we could have fitted more in. Pam looked after everyone in the catering department really well, thanks Pam.
John and Kate put lots of extra time in to get the displays just right.
Richard and Nicki educated us all in Dressage on the Wednesday night with a beautiful Pas de Deux to music, all dressed up in their top hat and tails - they looked wonderful and Rai Jin and Rio were beautiful.
I think however I missed the highlight of the week as we were training the Master Class, I wished I had seen SJ from Trent Park in the rounders match - apparently she changed into some sort of Demon and took no prisoners!
I think everyone benefited from the camp, we have a new training plan now for EVS and it will include dancing at least once a month.
Thank you to everyone for attending and especially all my Coaches for all of their help, also to Alison and Liz from Trent Park for their constant assistance ( especially Stable Management !! )
