British Open Show Jumping, Sheffield, April 2005

We were invited to the British Open Show Jumping Championships at Sheffield on the 7th and 8th of April to do a demonstration. We arrived on the Thursday morning early to have a quick practice in the Arena. It was all very posh with flowers and spot lights and the music was very loud. Bowler pretended to be scared and for a minute it reminded me of Olympia back in 2001 when he thought it was very daunting to do a display in such a nice arena. The surface was brilliant and we all settled well. We followed the Scurry Driving which was great as the Balanced Driving Team with Charlotte and Ian were there.

We had a good meal out on the Thursday night and certain members of the squad managed to befriend the Devils Horsemen ( very apt ), we now have a new group of supporters.

The following morning brought some sunshine and we did a further display in the afternoon. The commentator really lit the audience up but Bowler was as good as gold and the kids did really well. Wendy and I took Stephie Hunter, Ricky Davies, Liz Watson, Sarah Watson, Lucy Bell, Pippa Capstick, Sarah Reid and dragged Charlotte Walker out of retirement to help on the first day.
