It was the day after my last A level exam and I was really excited to be flying to Bern! It was just me and Sarah Watson from EVS, doing individuals on ‘Dee-dee’ from Switzerland. I also vaulted in SEVT’s second team as they had a person missing.
The first night we went out for pizza with Sylvie and her other individuals, which was good fun. The next day was compulsories, unfortunately our horse got a bit spooked and the compulsories didn’t go very well (I fell off in stand and landed on my bum!) Compulsories with SEVT went better.
Then we had an opening ceremony where everyone was given gorgeous Swiss chocolate followed by a party in the arena.
Dee-dee went a lot better in the freestyle and we both got much better marks but we didn’t go through to the second round. Freestyle with SEVT went well pulling us up a place and taking the team through to the next day.
The last day Sarah had a day off and watched with Ararat who had come as a spectator. I did team freestyle which went well again and then watched all the other team’s freestyles which were very exciting.
After the prize giving, Ararat, Sarah and I went to stay at Sylvie’s campsite for a few days, which was really cool. Thanks Sylvie for having us to stay, lunging us and organising the competition! Also thanks to SEVT, I had a great time doing team with you.
